Hi,
For us Muslims, this is not a controversial issue! It's mentioned in the Holy Quran hundred of times and we live it! What is happening after death is an intermediary life (grave life)! During which a man knows where he is going; heaven or hell! There is no third choice.
We live for the Hereafter as we are dying tomorrow and we live for the life (current life) as we are living forever! We worship Allah "God" and we live an excellent life - we do not need to guess of what is happening after we die - because we know it.
Please get more and know more about Islam by visiting www.islamtoday.com
Try it for curiosity , I am sure you will like reading it.

Thanks

i dont like the term god. it always seems too male and i find that a bit repulsive. i prefere the term truth. the greatness of spirituality and existance is tarnished when we put a human animal lable to it. human life is a monumental gift and it is our outstanding right to bask in its hugeness. i love your husbands articles, he seems a very worthy companion to such a gentle soul.

Misti, what is a tragic death? Are you talking about a horrible painful death or are you talking about the loss that the living feel when the person dies?

Death lasts just a moment and then we are whole again on the other side. Even a painful death is fleeting in the grand scheme of things. If you're talking about a painful loss for the living then that's another story.

I am a bit worried reading this.... I know someone who suffers from low feelings and does not believe in an afterlife, I worry that he may choose to never experience life again and to disappear..... I can see him doing this :(

Arno: Free will. God won't make people do anything. If He did, no reason for us to exist really. He wants us to decide and take actions and He sees what happens.

Thanks for answering, Erin!

Still, it makes no sense. If god wanted people to listen, he'd make them to. He has superpower, hasn't he? He is omnipotent. So why should he talk to people who don't listen?

I can see that the "radio on mute" analogy makes sense for non-omnipotent beings, but for god, it is just plain silly.

Arno: Most people can't remember their dreams let alone hear communication on this level. If you have your "radio" set on mute, whose fault is it if you can't hear the broadcast. As for God talking to people directly, it's the same thing. God speaks to people all the time; whether they hear him or not is their problem. :)

Why can't the guy with the beard tell everyone in their dreams to carry on and not dissipate at death? Why would he have to go through you to communicate with others?

You know, stories like these always make me wonder why life (death) should be so complicated. If there's a god, he can damn talk to me right away if he wants to reach me. If there's some afterlife-guy with a grey beard who wants to tell me to reconsider before giving up before meeting him, he surely would find a way to contact me. After all, he must be some dead ghost/soul, right?
