The Truth Behind the 9/11 Attacks

One of my readers, Hermann, sent me a link to a documentary called Loose Change, which presents information suggesting that Osama Bin Laden was not behind the September 11th attacks on the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. I have seen conspiracy theory websites before and found the information very intriguing, but after watching Loose Change I am convinced that we were not told the real story behind the attacks. Just the first 8 minutes of the documentary reveals so much.
If you watch the entire film, which comes in at 1 hour and 21 minutes, I think you’ll be left with the same doubts about what really happened as I was. If this documentary shows the truth, then the implications for our country and George Bush are astounding.
Watch the video and let me know what you think.

I think every American should watch that movie. Also read Bush on the Constitution: ‘It’s just a goddamned piece of paper’ and Ex-CIA Official Faults Use of Data on Iraq.

I have created a list at listible.com listing reasons Why Bush hates America. Feel free to add items!

We can only hope that this gets used during the election!

I am by no means a Bush fan but I have trouble trusting everything in this video, either. The points presented are fairly compelling but when I consider the surrounding circumstances it all seems a bit far fetched. Think about the large number of people who must be involved in an ordeal of that magnitude. Who placed all the explosives? Do you really think that Bush would willfully kill that many innocent people? How come nobody is talking? Etc.

I think far better sources on the subject are web sites such as :
http://www.911review.com/
http://911research.wtc7.net/
Actually they dismiss lots of Loose Change claims, although they defend a conspiracy theory too. It sounds far more serious, and their theory would not involve a large number of people.

The claims behind this so-called ‘documentary’ are so outrageous and one-sided that I can only feel sorry for those who believe it.
Among the claims it makes are that George Bush and the U.S. government:
-Orchestrated the 911 attacks and sought to blame it on 19 terrorists (most of whom the video claims are still alive).
-Rigged the towers with explosives to make them collapse.
-Impounded the planes and passengers supposedly involved in the attacks and then made them ‘disappear’.
-Used remote-controlled planes, not the actual American Airlines and United Airlines planes, which are still flying according to the video.
-Fired a cruise missile into the Pentagon (despite over 100 eye-witness claims describing it as a passenger jet).
This ranks right up there with the belief that the world is flat and that the Apollo moon missions were faked. The only thing missing in this film is Michael Moore’s name in the credits.
This video has been extensively debunked with links you can find to its entry in Wikipedia:

As a European citizen, I have always been quite “far off” the actual impact on the American society, caused by 9-11. Nevertheless, quite a few people here think there’s more to it than just Osama training a bunch of fundamental freaks. The American gov’t might indeed be involved.
Remember that the US sacrificed a lot of people to get involved in both World War I and II. Remember Pearl Harbour? Was it accidentally unprotected? A lot more examples can be found in recent history. I do not believe the twin towers were blown up by explosives placed there, but the hijackers were not hindered and maybe even helped in their doomful training.
But even then…who will tell in the end?

Thank you for the link Erin!
Flake, true or not, there are just too many unanswered questions!

Erin, I love what your husband said recently in one of his blog posts: “The most common way to shrink someone’s perspective is to put them into a state of fear” (from “What Lies Beyond the Haze of Social Conditioning?”) that’s exactly what the bush administration tries to do.

The real enemy is neither George Bush nor Osama bin Laden; the real enemy is fear, which leads to hatred. Videos like this only serve to increase the fear and confusion in the world, and as such they are not part of the solution.
Remember, it is just these types of conspiracy theories which are used to throw mobs of those stuck in false contexts (as Steve would put it) into murderous frienzies in other parts of the world. Fear, as Dune puts it, is the mind-killer. It is “the little death which brings total annhilation”.
Please, spread hope rather than fear.

For anyone on here who doubts that gov’ts could be so evil. Check this out. “Operation Northwoods” was the name given to a plan by the US gov’t (Minus JFK. This could be a reason for why he was murdered) that outlines how they planned to execute phony terror attacks against their own people in order to trick the american people into supporting a war against Cuba. As you can see this is completely legit.

I work for a company that keeps a lot of secrets from their employees. There are a lot of rumors but the managers do not tell us what is really happening. I believe if a small company thinks it’s none of an employees business why their check bounces(for example) then I also believe the President keeps the truth to himself too.

Erin - Please take a look at the following blog post from the a very liberal website. Yes, there are certainly a lot of unanswered questions about 9/11 (Michael Moore told us that), but the makers of Loose Change flatly ignore any well-established fact that doesn’t serve their purpose.

Erin, check out http://www.whatreallyhappened.com for a very good site on alternative news, 9/11 history and the Iraq war. The problem with most 9/11 videos is that they fall for the ’straw man’ of a missile at the Pentagon, which will likely be used in the future to prove ‘all’ conspiracy theorists wrong…

If the first eight minutes of “Loose Change” convinced you (the rocket under the plane thesis) when reading on the web about 911 didn’t, that tells more about your ability to correctly assess information than it does about the event in question.
While I agree with you that the “official” story certainly does not fly at all, that’s no reason to promote a film using intellectually dishonest means to make its point.
Don’t you think that pointing to scientific research such as
http://www.physics.byu.edu/research/energy/htm7.html
would do a better job to convince those in need of facts to forge their own opinion ?
Given your eagles-and-bears discourse, http://erinpavlina.com/blog/2006/04/where-the-eagles-fly/ I’d expect a lot more “awareness” when it comes to evaluate news-sources.

Ouch! I see a few rough comments on this post - wow. That’s pretty different than the comments on any other posts on here. For good reason, everyone is trying to get to the truth on what in God’s name is happening with our “representative” government nowadays, and so that’s where the conflict lies, because we just don’t know. We need to do find out in a productive way though. We desperately need truth in our government, I would say at almost any cost.
What can we do to promote greater transparency and accountability within our government? The US seems like such a lost cause to me that I frequently just want to jump ship and move to New Zealand where maybe people aren’t as complacent. Here, everyone gets hung up on moral issues, take abortion for example, now Bush has been in office for two terms, is abortion illegal? No. Will it be? No, of course not. But look at all the other harm that has came from his administration, with little or no change on that issue.
But I digress. There are all of these “alternative news” sites that people mention above, and I am sure that at least one of them is a really good, objectively written site. But I also think that it probably gets far fewer hits than even Steve’s blog.
Why do people care more about personal development than their government? Well, that actually makes sense. But why do I go to digg.com every day to learn about technology instead of a site to find out what is happening in congress?
Is it possible to hold an intention for more transparency and accountability in our government? Or even an intention that a site to be built that deals with politics in a real, truthful way, one that people could go to and get personally involved?
If it is possible to hold an intention to make positive changes manifest within our government I will certainly do so, and I think, judging from the impassioned debate over this post, and within the content of the associated links, many other people would as well.
Erin, maybe your family could support such an intention on your pages, instead of the current one to make a million dollars
I think a transparent goverment would be better.
Cya,
Dan Linehan
