How Can Psychics Reach Deceased Relatives Who Have Reincarnated?

Question: If people reincarnate, then how come psychics can still contact them on the “other side?”  How come they always say that so-and-so is doing fine?  Wouldn’t some of them be unreachable if reincarnation exists?

Answer: That’s a great question.  I can’t say with certainty that I know the answer, but let me explore some possibilities with you and we’ll see what makes the most sense.

I’ve heard and read that people don’t reincarnate that quickly.  After you leave one life, there is a review period where you go over your previous life and see how you did and if you fulfilled your mission for that incarnation.  Before you incarnate again you need to determine what you want to learn, arrange to have parents and a family that will facilitate that, and arrange some key events in your life.  It’s not easy.  Many people and situations need to come into alignment for all of that to happen.  Plus you need to coordinate with other souls so that you can have experiences together.  So one possible explanation for why psychics are able to get in touch with deceased relatives is because they are still there and not ready to incarnate yet.  I’ve heard other people say it can take nearly 100 of our years to work out the next incarnation.

Another explanation for why psychics can “always” seem to connect with deceased relatives is that perhaps there is an energy signature that stays in the ether even if the person’s soul has incarnated again.  Your higher self is still in the ether even when you are incarnated.  So when a psychic is searching for “Uncle Bill” maybe the psychic is connecting with the higher self of Uncle Bill even if Uncle Bill is now a baby girl in Asia.  Perhaps the higher self presents to the psychic as Uncle Bill so the sitter will recognize him.

Also, I wouldn’t say psychics always connect with the deceased.  I think that’s an assumption that may not be true.  I don’t have enough experience yet to address this myself, but I remember John Edward and other mediums saying that they can’t just bring through any deceased person you want them to.  As John Holland says, “I can’t just call 1-800-dial-your-daddy.”  When he connects with your energy he sees who comes through and will talk about them.  He told us at the seminar I attended that sometimes the person you want to hear from just doesn’t come through.  He didn’t say why though.

And lastly, time doesn’t really exist.  If we want to go the quantum physics route, I would have to say that all of our incarnations happen at the same time.  So I guess we can be a baby girl in Asia in 2026 and a cowboy in the wild west in 1855.

I’m sure there are things we just can’t understand from our 3rd dimensional perspective.  So when I get information from anyone I simply ask myself if it resonates or not.  If you get information from a psychic that truly helps you, does it really matter whether it came from Uncle Bill or a random spirit or the psychic doing the reading?

Just remember, “there is no spoon…” so it doesn’t really matter whether we’re going to use that spoon to eat Honey Nut Cheerios or Grape Nuts as long as we get fed, right? ;)

This sure is a great topic for wild speculation. In the older Celtic traditions of the Druids (which I’m becoming more familiar with through my studies), reincarnation was an accepted fact. According to the Druids, when you die, you are “born again” in the Otherworld as a child; you then live a full life in the Otherworld. Then you “die” in the Otherworld and are reborn here. This would fit with what you said about taking nearly 100 years to reincarnate.

What is the Otherworld like? I remember reading about a Celtic monk who had himself buried alive so that he could experience the Otherworld directly. After a day, he was dug up again. He said delightedly, “The Otherworld is nothing like what you imagine!” Then he had himself buried again. He’s still there under that monastery… :-)

Tossing another Theory out there for everyone:
People who have died recently may not be reincarnating at all.

I’ve noted that Sylvia Browne has said often that she believes most of us living right now are on our last life.

Theories about Indigo children suggest we have a lot of Old Souls in the prime of life right now, and that the Crystal Children, those presently incarnating, represent a fresh crop of new human souls who are arriving without prior lifetimes under their belts, yet genetically and spiritually pre-disposed to skip ahead to an Ascended, evolved state…

      I dig your bottom-line:

“If you get information from a psychic that truly helps you, does it really matter whether it came from Uncle Bill or a random spirit or the psychic doing the reading?”

      Here, here!

Let’s not forget that the word Angel is synonymous with Messenger — we have many wise sayings concerning the separation between Message and Messenger.

Sometimes, just as in third-dimensional everyday life, a stranger on the street may simply be better positioned to deliver an important message to you than your Grandma Pearline.

A policeman can effectively divert traffic from the scene of an accident without stopping each driver, shaking their hands, and introducing himself…

      This is a great topic.

I guess my two cents on it will be more aligned with the idea that time simply does not exist in the nether. All past, present and future lifetimes have occured. This is where the hall of records comes into play. It is why some people can not only get past life regression but future life progression. The only thing with the future is that here on our dimensional plane it is NOT fixed. Sure, there are projected outcomes according to particular paths you are choosing but it is not set in stone. So how can the records show the future lifetimes?

I believe that you have already chosen when you will come back. Future events such as major natural events will already be known. So we have made that decision ahead of time. Who knows, maybe we have already lived these lives? :) Maybe it is this one that keeps sticking with us because we haven’t got it completely right yet. Okay, that’s stretching it a bit. I just love talking about stuff like this because of all the possibilities.

To answer the question though I believe that Erin has it pretty close (if not dead on.) Our higher self is always linked in with the super conscious. It is always in the nether. Also, considering when we were created we were neither male nor female we may have “twin souls”. This is a term I have come across a few times. When we are a male child we may leave behind the female aspect of our soul (maybe our higher self?) or vice versa. I have even heard that you may choose to incarnate both parts of your soul at the same time.

Just food for thought considering the fact that if we truly are made in the image of the source of all creation that there may not be many limits holding us back. We are simply learning how to utilize our gifts in a loving and compassionate way so that we no longer abuse them. Ultimately so we can be true companions with our creator and possibly become creators in our own rights.

I really look forward to seeing what people will come up with in response. I already like the first two comments in this thread. :)

In the whole “everything in the universe is made of the same stuff” philosophy, you would technically be every other person who ever did/will exist at the same time, just more conscious of one person during a particular lifetime. Sort of like a schizophrenic who jumps from personality to personality, but it’s all in the same place.

Anyone who wants to really get tripped out by this stuff should watch the anime “Neon Genesis Evangelion”!!

    5. Amit Says:

I have to go with your second and third points on that one. I personally think time is irrelevant in the “ether” as you put it or in the non-corporeal regions outside of space and time. Even then, in this physical space and time, the concept of time, as we percieve as humans, is very one dimensional, in a metaphorical sense with regards to how much we actually know about how space and time works.

On a lighter note, I wrote a blog post a while back called: “There is no spoon”, here’s the link, http://www.unlimitedchoice.org/blog/archives/79 and then because of saying that phrase in my head over and over again…here’s what happened - http://www.unlimitedchoice.org/blog/archives/83

    6. Maartens Says:

“If you get information from a psychic that truly helps you, does it really matter whether it came from Uncle Bill or a random spirit or the psychic doing the reading?” Like many people I dearly want to believe that some higher faculties and supernatural entities exist that can influence my life, that I can access them for beneficial effects on my life, and that - on a spiritual level - there is more to it all than the rather dull (albeit courageous) Western conclusion: “metaphysics is dead, there is no inherent meaning or value, get over it!”

Thus, if I were to receive help it matters a lot to me whether it was for the supernatural reason indicated (”a random spirit is telling me you should invest in property this September”) as opposed to the psychic’s ability to suss out my resources and abilities through sensitivity and empathy, thereby urging me to live out a promising self-fulfilling prophecy.

In the secular world we are too used to being swindled through every conceivable marketing device, manipulating our perceptions, thoughts and beliefs through techniques based on refined knowledge of the human brain and psychology. These influences are so pervasive - habitual - that it is a truly important matter whether beyond the matrix of our perceptions and false beliefs there are in fact spirits that are available to guide us, or whether the so-called higher spirit is but some residual chimera in our brains. If the latter, then we should change our vocabulary accordingly; if not, then there is a good reason to celebrate.

Pragmatism has its place, but personally I am sceptical if something works for me, but I can’t be sure of the origins. Good intentions and sincerity make up for a lot, and I can tell that Erin’s intentions are good; on the other hand, considering the same talents in someone with a desire for power and greedy for money, and I shudder. If the conduit (the psychic) can be either well or ill intentioned, then it should matter whether the spirits accessed are themselves the real thing or not.

The idea of a perpetual higher-self remaining constant over all your incarnations seems to answer this question sufficiently. Another question to continue this line of thought is then are all ’souls’ that have ever and will ever incarnate already in existence, or are souls created as needed?

A book that I plan on reading that discusses this is God Speaks by Meher Baba. From what I’ve heard he illucidates nothing less than the entire cosmology of existence. From what little I’ve glanced over, he compares what we refer to as ’souls’ to drops of water forming from an ocean of consciousness/energy. The drops separate from the ocean to answer the question ‘who am i?’ and then eventually finds its way back to the ocean. Elequent analogy I must say.

Have you read this and/or can you comment on this idea?

    8. Komic Kaze Says:

One time I saw my deceased Uncle Leo going through my garbage. He always loved to do that. I asked him why he needed to do such a thing now that he’s already gone. He told me he didn’t know anything else. So he continued to go through the garbage and eventually found what it was he was looking for. I solid gold pendant. Then he disappeared. I hope he’s in a better place.

how come reincarnation always involves coming back to earth!!?? aren’t there thousands of other planets in the universe we can live on too?

    10. JesusLives Says:

I remember where I come from.
Thankfully there is a direct specific answer to this question in the Bible. Although it’s interesting to see where other people are at in trying to answer this question.
Luke 16:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. 26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. 27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father’s house: 28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. 29Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. 30And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. 31And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

    11. Daniel Says:

      Erin –

When we saw each other at the Toastmaster event Saturday, I mentioned this post and how it validates something I’ve been seeing for a while. It seems clear to me that people have “higher selves” and this level of our consciousness is always in operation somehow, independent of what our lower selves are doing or are aware of. I was planning on blogging about it, but as I thought about my “evidence” it became obvious I was drawing conclusions on experience that wasn’t broad enough to support them. (So much for that article!)

I speculate that we reintegrate somehow with our higher selves between lifetimes. I have not read any of Jane Roberts’ “Seth” material, but I have heard a little about her discussion on “oversouls” and this material may shed light for me personally on the phenomenon.

I do suspect there are limits to what we can understand in our present temporal mode of existence, but that doesn’t keep me from trying.
