Erin, Thanks for this blog post -
This has been very timely - I'm just starting to read about Feng Shui, and interested about this more along the lines of consecrating space, etc. - I have been involved in praying over a (Christian) house where the idea (for this new house was basically to just "kick" all the spirits out, (except angels of course) and consecrate the house to God, and his work. (the previous owner was a "new agey" type person, practicing some forms of
native american spirituality, so that was a specific concern for them).

When we were going through the house, both my friend and I felt, and communicated non-verbally with spirits that were there, and told them that they could not stay there, and they had to leave. (both my friend and I felt like they weren't necessarily completely
good spirits, but that had just gotten comfortable and were feeding somehow off the prevoius owner's energy.)

I know that the spiritual world is much more than just angels and demons, (and Karen Kingston talks about spirits of fire, earth, dryads, gnomes, etc.) that want to hang out with us, but (for example) there's so much electromagnetic energy generally around, it's difficult for them to do so) ...

In general, the principles of Feng Shui resonate with me very strongly, but I guess I'm looking for someone who knows about the different (good) spirits, (like those above) but/and can also speak on the above, in light of a Christian worldview... I'm all about attracting /showing respect to good (rather than bad) spirits, but at the same time, I don't want to be doing a bunch of rituals, (for either good, or bad spirits) out of obligation, or fear.

Of course, I'm not really afraid that that would happen, but I can see the point of (more conservative) Christians who express reservation about doing a bunch of rituals
(to either attract, or repel good or bad spirits) to placate them, (lest those spirits do something bad to you!) ... "because one's focus should just be focused on God." they might say...

I'd love to hear your perspective.

Thanks for all you do =)

Erin, I was about to ask almost the exact same question Shay did. I guess I don't understand how good and evil really exist. I've heard many wise people say that all paths lead to the same destination, and this always struck me as true. I like to assume that negative people I meet in day to day life are not evil, but are just unable to get past the curve balls life has thrown them. But saying that negative beings exist makes good and evil seem much more concrete. Is there also a hell? I never believed in that either..

Erin, what exactly ARE evil entities and where do they come from? I don't quite understand why there are evil ones out there. Are they people that used to be alive, died, then fear held on to their spirits too long and they just turned mad, terrorizing anybody that let them?

Or am I totally off-base here? :)
