If there are ghosts, I don't think ghosts are "souls" but a different form of energy. Einstein says that energy is neither created or destroyed so I believe when we die, we do not vanish but merely get converted into some other type(s) of energy and matter. I would like to think that our body converts to earthly matter while our consciousness translates into some kind of energy where it can continue to do what it does best. That's not necessarily reality but its just a nice thought. After death, there may be something or there may be nothing. The truth is that we really don't know either way and probably never know until our day comes. Either way, I don't think we are supposed to think about it much (i.e. worry about it) and the best we can do is make the best of our time now. I didn't want to experience a thrashing, publicly, as my first foray into this world. But I was assured by the producers that establishing the hauntedness of the house was part of the show and we would be treated with respect, which I believe we were. He pretty much seemed to use the idea of ghosts and that location only as spooky material for his illusion act and for show, not really believing in anything paranormal.
