From ages 15 to 18, I used to astral project on average 3-4 times per week. I was a total master of the ability. It was second nature to me. As I grew older, I set aside my astral traveling as I got more focused on college, then marriage, family, and career. After projecting an estimated one thousand times in my youth, it was no longer a priority and it didn’t command my attention anymore. I’d still project upon occasion, but not more than a half dozen times a year.

Nowadays I spend my nights lucid dreaming instead of projecting. And I spend my days doing intuitive readings for people all over the world, including often connecting with people’s deceased relatives during readings.

And now you have the background to understand the experience that happened to me last Sunday. It was Mother’s Day, and my son got up early because he wanted to make me breakfast in bed. After I ate, I decided to go back to sleep, something I can never do during my busy work week raising two kids by myself. But it was Mother’s Day and no one needed me for anything, so I decided to treat myself.

I laid down and fell asleep within just a few minutes. Ah, the peace, the luxury, the gift!

But peace was not to be mine. I’m not sure how long I was asleep before I woke up in the state of sleep paralysis, which is a precursor to astral projection. Awesome! I thought to myself. I’m going to take this opportunity to astral project and go have some fun.

I initiated the separation which includes an intense tingling sensation within my body. Once I had my astral body “activated” I was ready to move out and go enjoy a nice trip. But as soon as I separated I came face to face with a group of maybe a dozen beings that were standing by my bed.

They were not negative low vibration beings. They were people. Dead people. Their spirits were literally lined up around me. I’d never experienced this before. In the past when I encountered other beings, they were either negative entities or they were high vibrational guides. These were humans who had once lived.

Before I knew what was happening, one of them made contact with me. I was catapulted into his story. He showed me that he had taken his young daughter hunting with him. She looked about 7 or 8 years old. It was her first trip. Long story short, she accidentally shot him and he died. The girl was devastated and grew up with tremendous shame, guilt, and sadness. His message to his daughter was one of profound forgiveness, and he was desperate for me to find her in life and tell her that he does not hold anything against her, and that he is sorry he couldn’t be there for her growing up. I was touched by his love for his daughter, and the urgency with which he was wanting me to find her.

During readings, I have contact just like this during readings. Dead people with urgent messages will come forward and relay messages through me to their loved ones. But I’d never experienced this direct contact before. On their turf. In their realm. As an energetic spirit like them.

I pulled away from the spirit, and another one jumped in with his story. He was in a situation where his wife thought he’d ran off on her and the kids, when in actuality he drowned and his body was never found. He was desperate for her to know he hadn’t left her, but had died accidentally. It was heartbreaking.

As I pulled away from this guy, I put some space between me and the other spirits lined up to “speak” with me. I knew that if I stayed there, they would all want their turn to tell me their story. It’s not that I didn’t want to hear their stories, it was just that I was overwhelmed with their energy and I needed to regroup and get some distance.

I put myself back in my body and got up out of bed. I wondered whether there are always spirits around me trying to get messages to their families, or if they were attracted by me going astral and swarmed me like moths to a flame.

It has occurred to me that perhaps I could tune in to them even when I’m not officially reading for someone, just to get their stories and see if I can find their loved ones. It’s probably more time and effort than it’s worth, but if the opportunity arises again, I might just take it.

And the next time I project, I’ll be ready for the line up.

“A psychic told me I would have a new job in 6 months, and I waited, but it didn’t happen. Was the psychic wrong?”

“A psychic told me I would find my soul mate in 4 months but that didn’t happen. Does that mean he’s gone forever and I’m doomed to be alone?”

“A psychic said my medical problem would clear up in 2 weeks but it actually got worse. Why was she wrong?”

This is one of my pet peeves with many of the practicing intuitives out there. They tell their clients exactly when something will happen, and when it doesn’t, the client is very disappointed, thinks the psychic was a fraud, or worse, they feel like they missed out on a chance to get something they really wanted.

I understand that as a client you want to know when you’re going to get what you desire. But no psychic can reliably predict when things will happen because the future is not set in stone. Because you have free will, every action you take will either bring you closer to or further from your desire, so how does a psychic know in advance what actions you will take with your free will? Answer… he doesn’t.

So why do some psychics give you a time prediction then if nothing is set in stone? Some psychics think that in order to sound amazing and magical, they have to give specific dates. Some psychics receive a date, but don’t realize it’s mercurial. And some psychics will tell you what you want to hear so you’ll be happy with your reading. Be wary.

When I read for my clients and they ask me when something is going to happen, I sometimes get a time frame, like 6 months, but with the caveat that it’s only going to work out if the client does X, Y, or Z. And even then, a client can make something happen faster, or can make something take longer, by their actions.

A much better question to ask is “How can I get X, Y or Z as quickly as possible?” Then the guides can give advice about how to adjust your course, your thinking, or your actions in order to obtain what you desire in the easiest and shortest amount of time possible.

Does that make sense?

When I get a date, time frame, or an age at which my client is going to achieve or obtain something, I always let the client know that the time frame is based on their current trajectory and their current actions, and that they can affect that time frame with their actions and decisions. So if you don’t like where you’re headed and how long it’s going to take you to get there, you can absolutely rev the engine and push the accelerator and get there sooner. Likewise, you can stave off disaster with some foreknowledge of what’s coming on your path and how soon it’s going to impact you if you don’t make changes now. That’s actually one of the best reasons to get a reading with an intuitive.

Plus, accidents happen. You may be on course to get something you’ve intended to get for a long time, but due to the free will actions of others, you may be knocked off course. When that happens, you’re going to circle the airport of life and try landing again. It’s not denied to you, just delayed.

When you get a reading from an ethical, responsible, professional intuitive, they will empower you to make your own decisions and obtain your own rewards. They won’t rob you of your power by telling you something will or will not happen.

Can you imagine how you would feel if you thought you were supposed to meet your future husband at Starbucks on April 2, 2014 at 3pm and you got stuck in traffic and couldn’t make it? Would you stop looking for a mate? And what happens if you meet a fantastic man 3 weeks before April 2, 2014? Do you tell him to buzz off because he didn’t arrive on the right day?

Next time you have a reading, ask empowering questions.

Instead of: When will I get the job I really want?
Ask: What do I need to do now to ensure I’ll have a job I love within the next year?

Instead of: When will I meet Mr. Right?
Ask: What beliefs are currently preventing me from having the relationship I desire, and what beliefs can I adopt that would help me manifest a great relationship soon?

Instead of: When am I going to die?
Ask: If I continue with my current way of eating, will it cause any significant health problems down the road?

Instead of: When will I be able to hear my guides?
Ask: How can I adjust my methods so I can hear my guides more clearly and more often?

Be very wary of a psychic who tells you when you are going to have or achieve something. She might be right, she might be wrong, but it’s not really for her to say. She should guide you and give you options, not lock you on a road that’s all or nothing. If you’re in a forest and you’re headed for a lake, I can tell you how soon you’ll reach the lake IF you stay on your current path, going at your current pace. But along the way you might get distracted by the bear that’s headed in your direction, or you may veer off and climb that tree over there before getting to the lake.

Basically, what I’m trying to say is to take time predictions with a grain of salt. Use the information and the estimate to determine if you want to go faster towards the goal or put on the brakes entirely and head off in a new direction. You are not locked onto one path.

When I first got these emails, years ago, it distressed me. I wrote back to people to try to explain myself and why I felt I wasn’t going to Hell. It didn’t really matter. Most of the people used fake email addresses and didn’t want to get a response. Those that did, would just come back with longer Bible passages and more evidence that I was in league with Satan.

I realized they were the ones with the problem, not me.

So I started sending back joke answers. “No, I don’t work for Satan, he offers no health insurance and I hear he fires people all the time.” Most people weren’t amused by my clever rejoinders.

Recently a guy wrote to me and was very worried about my soul. I’m touched, honestly, that people want to make sure I’m going to Heaven. He told me the voices I think I’m hearing are really satanic demons who are tricking me. I wrote back to him and said, “So these demons that I’m communicating with, they want me to help suicidal people find a reason to live? They want to help find missing people? They want people to live these really happy lives, become encouraged, inspired, and motivated to do wonderful things on this planet? Because that’s what they’re doing.”

He was quiet for a while. But he wrote back a few days later and said, “Oh, I didn’t realize that’s what you did with your abilities. It does seem odd that Satan would want you to help so many people. I’ll have to think about that. Maybe he wants them to be happy now so he can hurt them more later.” Yeah, maybe it’s a big old setup. Never heard from that guy again.

Then a few days ago a woman emailed and told me she was cruising my site and was loving the articles because I talk a lot about compassion, helping others, oneness, love, and connection, and she really resonated with that. But she was distressed because she couldn’t see any articles where I mentioned that Jesus was my Lord and Savior. She wanted to make sure I knew that if I didn’t accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior that I was going to Hell.

So I wrote back to her and told her I appreciated her words and her sincere desire to help me. I let her know that God’s gift has allowed me to assist others, bring comfort, and help them be happier. She responded, “But you still haven’t mentioned Jesus.” I responded with, “So if I don’t expressly mention Jesus, then all this good work I’m doing to help others is going to land me in Hell? Do you think God is angry that I’m using this gift to save people’s lives? Should I stop?”

She said, “Unless you praise Jesus, you and your site are just satanic, and you will not be saved. You clearly worship Satan and all those articles you’ve written and all those people you’ve helped were really helped by Satan.”

So I sent her one last email that said, “Well how do I know you’re not Satan disguising yourself as a Christian in order to get me to stop doing God’s work?” I never heard back from her.

When you think about it, though, it makes a lot more sense that these folks who write to me are actually the demons working for Satan. They are trying to stop me from helping others. They’re trying to prevent me from bringing people out of dark places and into the light. And they have even threatened to kill me in the name of their Lord.

I don’t know about you, but I think that’s pretty dark stuff. I wonder what Jesus would think.

“Where did you last see it?” I replied. It was my standard response to “Mom, where’s my …?” questions.

“In my boot,” she said.

“Check there,” I said.

“Ugh, Mom, don’t you think I already checked there? It’s not there. I don’t know where it is.”

“You may have to go to school without it,” I suggested. You’d think I told her she’d have to go to school wearing a bag over her head.

“Are you crazy?!?! I need my phone, help me find it, please!”

I sighed and we began tearing the house up looking for the phone. We tried calling her phone but it was on silent and nary a vibration nor a sound did we hear.

After 20 minutes of searching every single place we could logically think of, I told her we’d be late if we didn’t leave immediately. Then she said, “Ask my guides where my phone is. They must know where it is because they watch me all the time right?”

So I did what I probably should have done from the beginning. I stopping thinking and tuned in instead.

Now I’ve written about how to find lost items using psychic abilities before. I wrote that article because the number of emails I get from people asking me to find their lost diamond engagement rings, iPods, or their lost retainers is ridiculously high. You CAN find lost items yourself using psychic abilities, and that article tells you how to do it.

But now, on this chilly Friday morning, I would have to see if it worked for me too.

I tuned in. I erased the mental map I had of my house and threw logic out the door. I said to the ether, “Where is her phone?”

I’ll try to describe what happened next but it’s difficult if you’re not an oft-dwelling denizen of my mind. A mental map of my house appeared, not with walls, just areas. And every area except one became grey, cold and elusive. One area of the house became hot, sharp, and target-locked. My office.

So I said without hesitation, “It’s in the office.”

She seemed doubtful because we had checked there several times. I was doubtful myself, but that’s what I felt, what I knew, what I saw.

She disappeared into the office and after 10 seconds I heard her proclaim, “I found it!!”

“Oh my gosh, where was it?” I asked.

She said, “Under a bunch of black cables and wires. I couldn’t see it before.”

The darn phone’s developed camouflage capabilities! I could almost hear the phone say, “Darnit, they found me. Please don’t make me go back into that child’s boot. For the love of all that’s holy…”

She came bouncing down the stairs, finally ready to go to school. And she said, “Wow, you really ARE psychic.”

Yes indeed. But you know what? This will work for you too.

Sometimes logic isn’t enough. Using logic, we tried retracing her steps, but her memory broke down at some point and she couldn’t remember where she had it last.

But intuition sees all, it’s just a matter of knowing how to tune in, not letting fear and doubt get into the mix, and avoiding logic even when it seems illogical to do so.

Intuition can find your lost items. We used intuition to find our missing turtle at one point as well. Don’t doubt the power of receiving information from the ether, your guides, the universe. It’s right there for you when you need it.

Does it work every time? It probably won’t. But the more you practice with it, the more success you’re going to have.

The next time you’re looking for something you’ve lost, try using your intuition to find it. It can’t hurt right? And it can save you a ton of grief, especially if you own a teenager and she’s without her blessed phone.

But sometimes people fear they have no purpose. So I want to explain what I’ve encountered so you get a better understanding of this thing we call “the life purpose.”

I have found after reading for thousands of people that some people incarnate with a specific purpose, and it’s practically encoded in your DNA. Growing up you’ll have a strong inkling or predilection for achieving your directive. Everything you attract into your life will support the drive towards this purpose. So much so that once you achieve it you’ll look back on life and say things like, “Yes, I always knew I was going to be a ….” Or “It never once occurred to me that I wouldn’t achieve this goal. I’ve just always known.”

Drive. Passion. Talent. Skill. Opportunities. It will be like heaven and earth aligned perfectly and you achieved your goal.

And that’s great. I see this with folks who are teachers, healers, communicators, scientists. There’s an unstoppable energy, like a stampede, towards a goal. Not only are they capable of achieving it, they’ve also seemingly “lucked out” in some way and been propelled towards their goal at light speed. That’s because the universe, their higher self, and their guides are all behind them pulling strings and getting things done.

But what if you aren’t one of these people? What if you’ve been drifting, passionless, unable to even figure out what you want to do or even what you’re good at. You squeak by, you try lots of different jobs and nothing excites you. You fail a lot. You meander. Your life is sometimes up and sometimes down. You’re just wandering through life, unknowing of your purpose, no drive and seemingly no opportunities.

Well guess what? You have a life purpose too.

Life is meant to be experienced. You’re here to have fun and explore. Your job is actually to simply be happy. It’s society and convention that drill into you that you have to find a career, settle down, have passion and drive. We’re taught it’s the only way to succeed.

But the truth is that some souls incarnate simply to play in the sandbox of life. They’re not here specifically to have an impact or change the course of the world. They’re here to experience life. To share, to learn, to grow. And honestly, that’s purpose enough.

Do not let society judge you. And don’t judge yourself.

Yes, some people decided to incarnate to have an impact, to change the world, to get their hands very dirty. Let them. Sit back with your bucket and shovel and just play in the sand. Along the way you will learn, grow, and experience. And your life will be just as purposeful as anyone’s.

Put joy, love and compassion into the world. Share the journey. Do what you enjoy. Drift from one joy to another. Don’t hurt other people.

Make your own personal castle in the sand. And if the wind or the water knock it down, build another.

Whether you came here for some grand purpose or to simply experience what life has to offer, you are an important and valuable piece of the greater puzzle.

Fast forward to a dark and gloomy Monday in October. I’d received some very bad and upsetting news about the health of a family member. I was sad, stressed, and upset.

Then I got into an argument with someone close to me. The day was quickly falling into the abyss of days you just want to leave behind you as fast as possible.

And something really amazing and powerful happened.

Before I knew it, I had slipped into a higher frequency. My vibration raised to a place of love, peace and gratitude. My body tingled.

I’ll never forget the 60-year old woman I read for who had no income and no desire to get a job. When I asked her why, she said a psychic in California told her she would win the lottery and that a prince from Europe would marry her. She was quite excited about this prospect, so she stopped working, believing that her money troubles would magically fix themselves in short order.

When I told her what she needed to do to get her life back on track and start earning an income, she became very upset with me. She told me I was a fraud.

I understand why she railed against me. Her desire to have wealth just drop into her lap was a dream she was unwilling to give up. But the consequences of her actions had led her to the point where she could not even buy groceries. She had given all her power to this prophecy.

I asked her if she bought lottery tickets. She said no. I asked her how she intended to win a lottery she never even played. She said it wasn’t her problem to figure that out. The prediction would come true regardless. I asked her if she knew any royalty from Europe, or if she was planning a trip there. She said no, that she hardly ever left the house. I asked her how a prince would even find her or know she existed. She again said the prediction would handle the details.

I was frustrated. And I was really annoyed at the pay-by-the-minute phone psychic in California who preyed on this woman. Because of this random prediction, my poor client stopped working and fell into a financial struggle that would be really difficult to recover from.

Nothing I said to her about the unlikelihood of this prediction coming true was sinking in. Her guides were as frustrated as I was. Finally she agreed to start working a little while she was waiting for her prince and the call from the lottery board. She decided that she would need new clothes if she was to attract her prince.

Is it possible that this woman was destined to win the lottery and marry a European prince? Uh sure, anything is possible.

The job of a psychic is to relay and interpret the messages your guides are trying to send you, not promise you a fantasy, not take your power away, not make decisions for you.

The most powerful question you can ask a psychic is “What do my guides most want me to know to help me on my path?” An ethical and good psychic will hand you the map and discuss the hazards coming up on the road so you can traverse the trail prepared. Beware the psychic who asks for all your water while promising a helicopter will come in a moment to whisk you to the top of the mountain. You will wait a long time for rescue and be quite thirsty while you wait.

Your emotional state has a huge impact on your life path. Have you noticed that when you’re excited and happy you feel unstoppable? Things just fall into place. It’s like money drops from the sky. Relationships get better. Things start going better at work. You’re in the flow. Everything you think about manifests. Everything you want just drops right into your lap.

But what happens when you’re anxious, worried, and upset? Have you noticed that things keep getting worse? You fall out of flow and everything is a struggle. The pieces of your life start falling down like a house of cards. Someone gets sick. You get chewed out at work. Your loved one wants some space. You can’t get anything done. Even simple things become difficult.

What’s happening is that your vibrational state is having a direct impact on your life path.

When you are happy and at a high vibration, you attract positive experiences. Life just gets better. You’re totally in the flow. Your boat is sailing along with the current and you don’t even have to paddle.

When you are happy, and “bad” things happen, you shrug them off more easily. You keep your vibration high, you handle your problem, and you keep going. To extend the metaphor, your boat hit a rock, but you were so on top of the situation that you easily maneuvered around the obstacle and just kept right on going. Barely scratched and dented.

Being happy doesn’t mean you avoid pain, it means the pain can’t bring you down and cripple you.

Now if you’re prone to feelings of sadness, upset, anxiety, and worry, then when something negative happens, instead of handling it and moving on, it’s going to stop you in your tracks. It’s like getting caught on a big rock and no matter how hard you try to get unstuck, you just can’t get your boat off the rocks. You’re trying, but the water is beating you up from behind. You’re frustrated. Upset. And even though you’re trying hard to get unstuck, you can’t.

In this situation, you’re trying to stay with the current, and be in the flow, but you got overwhelmed. How do you get unstuck? You must adjust your vibration. You can’t get unstuck from the same emotional place that got you stuck. You’re unresourceful. You can’t see how to get off the rock.

You may need to ask for help from others. You may need to stop struggling for a minute, tune in to your guides, and listen to their guidance. It’s their job to assist you when you get stuck. But the most important thing you can do to get unstuck is to raise your vibration. Yes, even when you’re being battered and beaten and you can’t see a way out, your best course of action is to raise your vibration.

The reason is that you can’t get away from feeling upset, sad, and scared while you’re feeling upset, sad, and scared. You can only get away from those feelings by feeling something else.

But how are you supposed to adjust your feelings if you’re feeling them?!?! The answer is temporarily. You can temporarily choose a higher vibration. Even when you are in the pit of despair, you must find a higher vibration, even if just for a few minutes. Find something to laugh about. Dance a little. Sing at the top of your lungs. Meditate. Do whatever makes you feel happy, even if it’s just for 10 minutes or a couple of hours.

Because when you can pop yourself into a higher vibration, resources come. Thoughts you couldn’t have at the lower vibration now flow to you easily. Help arrives. Ideas come. And you suddenly see exactly how you’re going to get off the rock.

If you give in to despair, however, you will thrash around until you’re so tired you can’t fight and struggle anymore. You’ll want to give up, sink, and maybe even end your life. But it doesn’t have to be that way at all.

Learning to master your vibration is critical to having a life of joy versus a life of heartache.

There will always be events and circumstances in your life over which you have no control. Stuff happens. You can’t prevent negative things from happening to you. But how you react to them determines the quality of your life.

You can choose your emotions. You can raise your vibration. You can decide if you’re going with the current or struggling to paddle upstream.

Practice raising your vibration. For 10 minutes a day, be ridiculously positive, happy, and exuberant. Then go back to what you were feeling before. After you’ve mastered 10 minutes, try 20, and so on. Before long, you’ll be more comfortable being in the higher vibrational states and it will be a lot easier to get there.

The more time you spend in those states, the more amazing and wonderful your life is going to be. Don’t believe me? Try it. What do you have to lose except that sad face?

Who are they? Why are they there? And is there any way to know when one is around?

I’m talking about an array of beings on the other side, connected to you with bonds of love and emotion that are strong, caring and supportive. Angels. Spirit guides. Deceased loved ones. They’re all there.

I see angels around people who are going through a particularly rough time physically or emotionally. During readings if I see an angel around my client I know they have gone through a devastation or are even suicidal. Often the client has lost a child or a loved one recently. The angels are there to hold you when you feel like falling and giving up. You may not see or feel them, but they are there. They are the most powerful beings I see around people and they radiate pure love. It’s beautiful.

Your spirit guides are always with you. They are there guiding, nudging, and supporting you in life. While not as powerful as angels, your guides never leave your side, whereas I tend to only see angels when my client is going through devastation.

Your guides are broadcasting wisdom, support, insights, and directions to help you navigate the maze of your life. If you can get to the point where you can communicate with them, you will be able to receive their wisdom all the time.

When you are going through a rough time, your guides kick into high gear to try to bring solace, comfort, and change to your life. So where an angel is holding your energy to keep you from falling off the ledge, the guides are out there trying to find you the softest place to land.

Now what about your deceased loved ones who have crossed over? The people who loved you in life often stick around and hover a bit, especially when you’re going through a tough time. Not all spirits do this, but some do stay connected to those they left behind, offering a supportive thought, a virtual hug, and sometimes warnings and advice.

I had an interesting experience with this recently myself. I received some bad news and was feeling very sad. That night my deceased friend, Pam, who died in 2011, came to me in a dream. I’ve only seen her in my dreams maybe half a dozen times since she died, but there she was. In the dream we talked about the news I’d received, but then she showed me every time over the past year that she had been by my side. It was awesome. It was one scene after another where she showed me how she was holding me, comforting me, and trying to tell me everything would be okay. Although I have felt her energy around me many times in the past year, I’m not sure I noticed each and every time she came to me with supportive energy.

The next time you’re going through an emotional crisis or suffering physically, open your senses and try to detect the energies offering you comfort. They are right there, standing next to you, arms open, ready to catch you, hold you, and comfort you. You’re never truly alone. Even when you can’t see them, there are helpers nearby offering you support.

Let their love comfort you when you need it. Let it fill you with hope. Let it guide you to a more positive outcome. Thank these helpers for being with you, and feel their energy. Send them gratitude and their energy will expand. Work together when you can, and let them completely support you when you’ve got nothing left. You’re in good hands.
