I dont believe in the existence of anything like black magic, just remember there's noone above god. We are living in a 21st century, its an era of science and technology, its better to come out of those orthodox and superstitious beliefs.

I would suggest those who perform black magic may read Christopher Marlowe's "Dr. Faustus". Gaining knowledge is not bad but going beyond the reach of man can lead to destruction.

Hi Lewis,

I totally agree with you. I took a Women's Studies class in college and the teacher was explaining to us how language is used to maintain the social status quo. She told us things that just made me realize how our language is so biased against women and minorities, etc. It was shocking to realize this.

Just personally, however, I never associated black magic to voodoo or Black people, but I can see how some people might.

As for suggestions ... they should probably call it good or bad magic perhaps. Or positive or negative magic. But who does one contact? ;)

I'm sure this is a bit on the sociological note, but as an African American, I'm not so sure I enjoy the negative connotations the come with using the term "black" magic as it most surely causes many people (at least those I've met) to associate with Black people (namely in Africa - who are believed to predominately pratice black magic/voodoo.

Am I being overly sensitive at this point or am I legitimate in my concern and therefore would assume there should be suggestions for another name to call this "black magic". I understand the color 'black' has been universally associated with evil so perhaps this is just a mere sociological point and not a real concern. Please do share your comments. :)

Yes, totally agree. We have control over our mental and emotion. If we are positive, always happy and loving, we are not likely to be control by bad intention. But if we are negative, fear and guilty of ourselves, then its easy to be affected by bad intention.

> What is black magic? I heard that it’s a spell that can hurt someone even if >you are a good person.

This is 'your' reality. It is yours to create, as you desire. No one else has any control over you, in any way-shape-or-form, unless it is allowed. If you 'allow' someone to have control over you in the body, you have to turn around and 'look' - 'you' are the one that 'allowed' it.
