How Many Children Will I Have?

Recently, a reader asked me an intriguing question:

“Will who we marry determine how many children we have? If I have one soul attached to me, and my partner has one soul attached to them, does this mean I’ll have two children (if we do desire that is)? But if my partner has no soul contracts and I have one, does this mean we are destined for only one child?”

This is such a beautiful question because it touches on soul contracts, pre-birth planning, and the interplay of free will in our lives. Here’s how I see it from my perspective as an intuitive.

There Are No Iron-Clad Contracts Between Souls

Before we incarnate, our souls often set intentions and make agreements with other souls to share experiences together. These intentions might include becoming someone’s child, sibling, or parent. However, these agreements are not unbreakable contracts. They are plans—flexible ones.

If all conditions are right, the soul you’ve made an agreement with will likely come to you. But circumstances in the physical realm can shift those plans.

The Physical Body Plays a Crucial Role

Even if a soul wants to incarnate with you, the physical body has to be viable. Parents supply the DNA that creates the vessel for a soul to inhabit. If a parent is infertile or if conception doesn’t occur for some reason, the soul cannot come through that particular union because the body it intended to use is not available.

This doesn’t mean the soul is lost—it may choose another set of parents or wait for conditions to align in a different way.

Free Will Can Alter the Path

Free will is another major factor. Even with strong pre-birth intentions, choices made during life—consciously or unconsciously—can derail or delay the arrival of a child. For example, you or your partner might decide not to have children, or circumstances may make it difficult. Souls respect free will, so if the path changes, they may look elsewhere to fulfill their purpose.

Souls Sometimes Choose Different Paths

A soul may also decide to incarnate with another couple if that path better suits its goals or is more expedient. While you may have been part of its original plan, souls adapt to shifting circumstances. This is not a failure—it’s part of the fluid nature of soul agreements.

Souls Can Come Even Without a Prior “Contract”

Interestingly, not every child that comes into your life is part of a pre-birth contract. Sometimes a soul chooses to incarnate with you even if there was no prior agreement, simply because the conditions are right and the opportunity aligns with its growth.

This means that even if neither you nor your partner has a specific soul “attached” to you, it’s still possible for a soul to choose to join your family.

So, How Many Children Will You Have?

The number of children you have isn’t set in stone. It’s influenced by intentions made before birth, but also by the realities of your physical life, the choices you make, and the decisions of the souls involved. Some souls you planned to raise may come through, some may not, and new ones may join unexpectedly.

Final Thoughts

You are not “destined” to have a certain number of children based only on soul contracts. Think of soul agreements as strong possibilities rather than guarantees. Life on Earth is dynamic, and so is the spiritual realm. Trust that the children meant to be with you—whether through biology, adoption, or other means—will find their way to you if the timing and conditions align.
