5 Ways to Turn Down Your Psychic Sensitivity

One of the biggest misconceptions about being intuitive is that more sensitivity is always better.

It’s not.

If your psychic senses are wide open all the time, it can feel like walking through the world with no skin. Every person’s mood, every emotional undercurrent, every stray thought floating around in the collective field hits you like static.

I once did a reading for a gentleman who was completely overwhelmed. Every day he was bombarded by other people’s energies. He couldn’t tell what was his and what wasn’t. He didn’t know how to turn it off. By the end of the day, he felt drained, scattered, and irritated.

The problem wasn’t that he was “too psychic.”

The problem was that he didn’t know how to open and close.

You Must Learn to Open and Close Consciously

When I first developed my psychic abilities, every person I passed in the grocery store would broadcast information I was picking up. It got overwhelming fast. I didn’t know how to control it. I thought I just had to live like that.

I didn’t.

I learned to keep myself closed off energetically when I knew I was going to be around a lot of people. I only open when I’m doing work for clients. My guides have the ability to bypass my “do not disturb” button if there’s an emergency, but otherwise I decide when I’m online.

You must learn to do the same.

Psychic sensitivity is not something that happens to you. It’s something you manage.

Here are some ways to turn down the dial.

1. Zip Up Your Chakras

Do a meditation where you imagine tucking your chakras in close to your body. Visualize them retracting slightly so they’re not extending out and picking up every frequency in the room.

Then imagine zipping them up in a protective garment bag. Like you’re storing something delicate and important. You can literally picture a zipper going from root to crown.

Tell your chakras they are allowed to rest.

Tell them they do not need to scan the environment.

Tell them you are safe.

You’d be surprised how responsive your energy system is when you speak to it clearly.

2. Set Up a “Bouncer”

You probably have a conduit guide and don’t even know it. The conduit guide is the being who facilitates your connection with other energies and beings.

Ask your conduit guide to act like a bouncer.

Only let through high vibrational beings. If something negative or intrusive shows up, your conduit guide handles it before it reaches you.

You do not need to personally wrestle every stray energy that wanders by.

If you do feel hit with something negative, be firm. Tell it to leave. Say it out loud if you need to. Authority matters. Your energy field belongs to you.

3. Train Yourself Like an Air Traffic Controller

Imagine an air traffic controller sitting in a tower watching dozens of planes on a radar screen.

There are blips everywhere.

But they don’t panic at every single one. They’re trained to prioritize. They know which aircraft are cruising safely and which ones need immediate direction. They remain calm, focused, and selective about what requires action.

Right now, if you’re overwhelmed, you’re reacting to every blip on the radar.

Every mood shift. Every emotional undercurrent. Every energetic flicker.

You must train yourself to only respond to the signals that truly matter.

When you feel something come in, pause and ask:

Is this relevant to me?

Is this mine?

Does this require action?

If the answer is no, mentally label it “background traffic” and let it pass.

You are allowed to ignore psychic input.

Discernment is not denial. It’s mastery.

4. Create a Sacred “On” Space

If you want to intentionally communicate with higher vibrational beings, create a container for it.

Set up a meditation space. Candles. Incense. Soft music. Pillows. A cozy chair.

Signal to your subconscious that this is your “open” time.

Say:

“I am surrounded by the white light of Source energy. I am protected and safe from harm. I ask that only high vibrational energies be with me.”

Take deep breaths. Raise your vibration. Enter your sacred space intentionally.

Then ask your conduit guide to watch your back and only let in the good guys.

When you’re done, close the session. Thank your guides. Zip up. Ground yourself. Eat something. Touch something solid.

Opening and closing rituals train your nervous system to understand boundaries.

5. Ground, Ground, Ground

Overactive psychic input is often tied to being ungrounded.

If you’re in your head all day, floating in other people’s emotional fields, your energy body has no anchor.

Walk barefoot on the earth. Lift weights. Clean your house. Do something physical. Eat protein. Take a shower and imagine everything that isn’t yours going down the drain.

Psychic sensitivity is easier to manage when your body feels solid.

You Are Not Meant to Be On All the Time

Here’s what you need to know.

Being highly sensitive doesn’t mean you’re supposed to suffer.

It doesn’t mean you must absorb everyone’s pain.

It doesn’t mean you are responsible for every spirit that knocks.

Boundaries are not a lack of compassion. They are maturity.

You get to decide when your psychic senses are open and when they are closed.

And with practice, you will realize something powerful.

You were never out of control.

You just hadn’t learned the controls yet.
